We only increased the board size by 11 inches to make a 30x33 play area (we put two boards together at the long edge and sectioned off half of one board). 24x24 isn't bad; but honestly, I rather like the standard size. It also helps I own 3 of the killzones. Throwing down one of the boards and some terrain makes for easy setup. I love 22x30 but when we play 150pts we've started playing 26x30 just because of the extra models on the board, I'm considering 30x36 for 200pts.

Seriously, as we said before this is fundamental for making good tables. You should also also mark the drop zones before building the table, if possible. Not only will this help you better understand how players will use the terrain, it's helpful and saves time for players. Masking tape is ideal for this.

Possible new player with a table size question : r/killteam. I play necromunda. We play on a 4'x4' table with a lot of multiple level terrain. I was told Kill Team is played on a roughly 24"x30" mats. The death forest killzone is one level. Is there a reason the board area is so small?
